Before joining the spine team at University of Utah Health, Daniel was a bedside registered nurse in intensive care units caring for patients with a variety of different concerns for 4 years in upstate New York while studying for his nurse practitioner degree. While in school, Daniel was also a teacher's assistant for pathophysiology courses and volunteered as the student representative for the University of Rochester, as well as the student representative for The Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State.

Daniel is obsessed with the outdoors and spends much of his spare time hiking, skiing, climbing, and biking the wilderness with his wife, kids, and dog. He has summited all of the Wasatch "11ers" and has even explored every established trail (and many not-so-established routes) in the Wasatch Mountains.
